Nishioka lost to Tomas Berdych, fourth seed, during spring clay court season 2015. Nishioka reached the second round in Major at the 2015 US Open. He defeated Paul-Henri Mathieu, a fellow qualifier, in five sets. In the next round, he was defeated by Thomaz Bellucci (30th seed). He won the Toyoya challenger title in November 2015, defeating Alexander Kudryavtsev.

By winning the Asia-Pacific wildcard play-offs in Shenzhen, Nishioka earned a wildcard into the 2016 Australian Open. However, he fell in the first round to Pablo Cuevas.
